One of the main reasons that we are the leading basement experts in the South East and London, is the fact that we have an unrivaled knowledge of the industry and the technicalities involved in creating robust and unique basements. We work with only the best suppliers, partners, and builders in the business.
That’s why when our friends at Delta Membranes, bring out a new product – we like to tell you about it – not in too much scientific detail, but hopefully just enough that you understand why they’re the best in the business and why we recommend their membranes for our schemes.

The challenge
When you are developing any kind of residential or commercial structure one of the most important factors which need to be considered is “how do we keep this dry”?
Water ingress can be devastating to a concrete structure leaving damage which could cost tens/hundreds of thousands of pounds to repair. For this reason, much of our work involves problem-solving on how to redirect water from structures and how to keep basement spaces safe and dry in all conditions.
Water travels underground and so, trying to stop it from traveling at all is futile, therefore it should be redirected. We combine top-of-the-line waterproofing membrane technology with robust pumping systems to redirect the flow around the structure ensuring no damage to the concrete structure, regardless of the weather.
Introducing Delta Amphibia
Amphibia is the latest BBA Certified pre- and post-applied membrane system from Delta Membranes. Delta describes it as:
“fully-bonded waterproofing membrane with reactive core, this hydro-reactive, self-healing, self-sealing multi-layer waterproofing system which can be applied on vertical and horizontal areas of new construction”
This is a solution which can be used across all below-ground structures, whether you’re developing a residential basement space or a commercial car park, this new membrane is designed to protect concrete structures from aggressive ground conditions including contamination and stress.
One of the most versatile solutions produced by Delta to date, Amphibia can be used in both vertical and horizontal applications and is suitable for all ground floor and basement construction.
The membrane is made up of three layers:
- Tight Barrier (watertight layer)
- Core (self-sealing and self-repairing expansive safety layer, even in the event of puncture)
- Active Barrier (a hydro-reactive layer with controlled expansion, which prevents side water seepage and seals the overlaps).
